Last June, I wrote an article for ‘University Business’ magazine titled ‘College Search Gone Bad’ outlining the top 10 search marketing mistakes made by colleges and universities. Interestingly, it still remains on their top 10 viewed articles.
Now, I would like to add the 11th mistake to that list: Not transforming the ‘news & events’ into a powerful social media newsroom. PR2.0 techniques can expand the site reach into new spaces, extend the shelf life of news items, and create branding opportunities. If seeked-out brands are truly more powerful than brands that seek-out, then not deploying PR2.0 is a missed opportunity to create more brand-seekers.
